Does Skype work with iPhone 3GS?

Dear all, I called Three to ask about their iPhone 3GS. They said Skype only works with this iPhone over Wifi , not on 3G connection, which is surprising.

Could anyone confirm whether it is true?

Thats false. It works fine over 3G.

Early versions of Skype for iOS didn't support voice over 3G; only text chats would go over 3G. This was believed to be at the request of the mobile networks who didn't want to lose revenue. Things have moved on a lot since then and this is no longer the case.

Thanks. Does it mean that if I use Skype with iPhone, it will use up my 500mbs Internet data, in other words, there is no free Skype video call with iPhone?

Yes, of course over 3G any data will use up your data allowance. What made you think otherwise? Over wifi, it won't.

If I use Skype's video calling with iPhone 3GS, will people see me on their screen, or can I only receive video? Because iPhone only has one rear camera, I don't know how I can make myself visible on the screen.

On the 3GS it'll pretty much just be voice calls

Some three phones allow you to use skype without using your data allowance which is maybe why the OP asked that.

Your belief is correct. Because there is no front camera, you will see them but they won't see you. They might be able to see whatever is in front of you though.
