energyhelpline cashback problems
Options
Am I the only person wondering if energyhelpline is EVER going to pay me a cashback? I applied to switch supplier through energhelpline on 12 September 2011. Their confirmation email mentioned everything except the £30 cashback which had been promised in their online acknowledgement. Fortunately I'd kept copies of that web page.
My dual fuel switch went through on 8 November. Silence from energyhelpline, so I emailed them 3 weeks later to ask where my cashback was. Eventually they replied saying my cahback of £15 would be paid by the end of December. I emailed back that the offer was £15 per fuel, ie £30 total. No, they said, it's £15 total.
I then emailed them the copied web page which had promised £15 per fuel. Only then did they agree that my cashback was £30 and it would now be paid by the end of January.
The end of January came and went. I have now emailed them asking why I have not received my cashback and I await a response.
So, beware this company's cashback offers; I get the feeling that if you don't ask for it, you don't get it and, even when you do it is not readily forthcoming.
Above all, keep copies of all statements about the cashback - because energyhelpline appear to quietly forget about it when they email your switch confirmation.
Still waiting for my cashback.....

Follow up: Energyhelpline have now changed their minds yet again and decided I qualify for nothing at all. What a con! I give up now, but I shall never use them again. Would not recommend them to anyone and cannot understand why this website is always promoting them.0

There is another thread started today on the same subject.

Ported, you are certainly not the only person with this problem. I fail to see how they can refuse to pay out when they tell you they will pay you, confirm the transfer, the transfer happens and then nothing.0 -
Today enrgyhelpline have sent me an email offering £50 if I transfer to Scottish Power. There is clearly something wrong with the system because firstly they have still not paid me the £30 they owe me from over a year ago and secondly they are supposed to help you find the cheapest supplier not any random one that pays them a lot of commission. Why would anyone take any notice of them if they don't pay you what they say they will.0

Was just thinking today were is my cashback from early december. Funny enough I haven't had it!0

In the weekly MSE newsletter today Energyhelpline are the only comparison company mentioned again. I fully understand why MSE have to have relationships with companies that pay them fees as otherwise there would be no free website for us all to save money from. Where I have a bit of a problem is that Energyhelpline will provide the switching service, confirm it with a reference number, confirm it again in an email, do the switch but then refuse to pay the cashback. Perhaps there needs to be a warning every time MSE mention their name to say there is a chance that they won't pay you.0

I switched to Scottish Power with the offer of £80 (£40 per fuel) from energyhelpline..
I got the email stating I would be paid 4-6 weeks after transfer is complete.
I contacted them asking about my £80 and have been told my 4-6 weeks has been doubled to 90 days now, but I should have it by the end of the month which would be about 90 days :rotfl:
I hope MSE is getting paid well for promoting them0 -

I need to correct my post I must have decided not to use energyhelpline and used moneysupermarket I think I based on energyhelplines unreliability in threads like this one.
I was only reminded of this when I noticed a £30 credit to my bank account on the 01st March from Moneysupermarket much to my surprise and pleasure!0 -
The same thing has just happened to me.. It clearly said "Per Fuel", but they are now saying it is per application, and because I have dual fuel I only get £15 (although I am pretty sure it was £20 when I switched back in the beginning of December 2011). Does anybody have a screenshot from November/December of last year so I can back up my claim?
MSE shouldnt to using these guys if people are having issues getting their cashback paid.0 -
Its always been £15 per switch, the only cashback that works on a per fuel basis with energyhelpline is the supplier specific ones like with scottish power extra cashback.
Ive always used them for my comparisons and I've never seen it say per fuel apart from the extra supplier cashback (which you get on top of your £15)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Well my £80 for transferring to Scottish Power was paid yesterday. :T
Obviously if the original email had said 8-10 weeks instead of 4-6 weeks, then they may have been a bit more accurate.
9 weeks was worth the wait in the end0
