hi , i am down to task 4 after 7 hours malware search!
i am unable to remove rapport. a box pops up saying that windows installer could not be accessed.(usually because of safe mode or not correctly installed).

any help on this one please?!!:D

7 hours!? You should have just used the quick scan option. The full scan is unlikely to find any active malware over the quick scan that can harm the system or effect performance.

    The logs looks fine.

EDIT: Cross posted with the new log.
    O23 - Service: InstallBrain Updater Service (InstallBrainService) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\InstallBrainService\InstallBrainService.exe

    What've you been installing?
    • Open HijackThis.
    • Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
    • Look under System tools.
    • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
    • Click on the Save list... button.
    • It will prompt you to save it. Save it in a convenient location, By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
    • Notepad will open. Post this log.

I'm intrigued where this installbrain is coming from, it keeps appearing when people follow the guide, what did you install today?

commit charge going down should mean it is faster?

did you follow the ctfmon instruction for all user accounts on the machine?

    http://www.trusteer.com/book/xp-users-uninstalling-rapport-using-safeuninstall-utility

stop adobearm, quicktime, messenger, ctfmon running at startup using msconfig
