Lack of concentration, puncture, adjusting stereo/sat nav, car approaching on wrong side fo road are all reason why accident MAY have happened....
...or he may have been a prat in a 4x4 of course
+1
Lots of assumptions being made about the 4x4 driver, just to try to prove a stereotypical point.
Personally i dont give a monkeys what other people drive, but 4x4s are definitely a type of car that seem to bring out the worst in other drivers.0 -
Probably crashed trying to avoid a front wheel drive coming the other way on the wrong side of the road on the ice.0

I can remember two particular idiots in the snow when it was heavy last year.
The first was a woman who was driving in the two grooves that had been made on the local dual carriageway with a long queue of other vehicles behind her. Wasn't too remarkable until she stopped in the middle of the road, got out and started taking pictures of the scenery, whilst all the other traffic had to sit and watch. She was driving a normal car.
The second was a 4x4 driver. After 4 hours of being stuck on the dual carriageway, we were being helped up an off ramp one at a time. Some volunteers had dug out a couple of grooves on the ramp and were giving people advice and a push start to get them up. Then Mr 4x4 turned up and (just because he could, I guess) decided to drive a couple of feet to the right of the grooves that had been dug - and completely filled them in again, the whole way up. Then we had to sit for another hour whilst they were dug out again.
I guess the moral of the story is: idiots are idiots, no matter what they drive.0 -
I saw two 4x4s stranded in the snow on Saturday night. A BMW with all four wheels spinning and an abandoned sporty posh range rover. I just drove round them both with my winter tyres and my ford KA0

Anyone remember the episode of Top Gear where the trio had to prove that normal cars were as good as a 4x4 over the salt plains? - They made it (just) so clearly there is something in it. Although in truth they're highly skilled drivers unlike a lot of folks on the roads.0

I don't like to call them 4x4s they have !!!! all off road capability and they're shod in wide, low profile, sports tyres. The only advantage they have over a standard car is a bit of extra ground clearance. Pointless bloody posermobiles.
Ford KA has nice skinny tyres to cut through the snow, even without your winter tyres you'd be better off until the depth got too much. Unfortunately your KA will probably be a pile of orange dust in a few years, they rust like a Cortina. :rotfl:0 -
4X4 bashing - I am guessing the morale of the story - is to drive with sense.I owe £3233 @ 0%0

Today on my way to work i saw an accident..well when im saying accident there was only 1 vehicle involved
a mitsuibishi shogun ended up on its side in a field just after a slight bend in the road..everyone else was taking it easy what with the icy roads and all..but not mr 4x4 he must have been of the mindset that he was immune from all the snow and ice in his big shiny 4x4 and he could carry on as normal...epic fail
im not saying that all 4x4 drivers are like this (although i work with 2 that also believe they are invincible) but some obviously are
i await the tirade of abuse..............
Did you witness the actual incident?
If not then you are making an awful lot of assumptions about what happened.0
