been to FV twice, a week at a time (and would go back there); both times stayed in hotel complexes down south near Jandia. We hire a car and have covered the whole island pretty much; thought Corralejo a bit naff frankly but each to their own. If you get a good all-inclusive price don't feel you *have* to stay in for lunch or dinner every day - when we feel like a drive we explore far-flung corners and have found some simply superb seafood restaurants at modest prices. They might look like shacks or cafes but if off the beaten track you will always be looked after very well. And if you just want to chill out some days then you don't need to go anywhere at all. The scenery and topology inland is stunning, I'd recommend hire a small 4x4 and go offroad lots. Don't forget the wind - kitesurfing, windsurfing and sand-yachting are all popular because there are beaches down south with miles of space and they don't get too busy out of high season. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

I wouldn't want to stay there now... It's recently been bought by one of those companies who chat to you for 2 hours then try and get you to buy 5 weeks worth of holidays without flights that initially seem a good buy but really aren't. They're upgrading the complex to uber luxurious standards with an uber high price. We got stung with them in December, claiming that we had won a star prize which was just a weeks accommodation there but we had to be married/home owners/and have a CC! Unfortunately we were none of them! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -

I can second that advice, I have been to Fuerteventura many times and there is plenty to see and do off the beaten track.
One word of warning though, many car hire agreements specifically exclude driving off tarmac roads, even with a 4x4. If you aren't the risk taking type, it is best to check the small print first.
This was taken on the wilder north facing coast of Jandia...
This was taken on a walk on the western side of the island. When I got back to the car it turned out I had been walking through an old minefield. Look out for signs that say "Perigo Minas!!".0
