  • Hi Rochdale Guy

It really, really does get easier. It sounds like you're getting a bit panicked about it all - there's no need to panic, AT ALL. Slow down, deal with one task at a time and see it through to the end, if you can't put it on a list and forget about it for a wee while. Just stop for a while and breathe! I am like this when I get stressed, I go into overdrive and end up over thinking everything, frazzled and hyper and less effective because of it.

The addresses thing isn't a big issue, honest, it will get to the right department eventually. All of ours did and we had 19 creditors, I just chose the most likely address and sent it on to them. Just get them sent off, and it's done. It doesn't really matter, in the grand scheme of things, if that's today, tomorrow or five days time, don't panic.

BTW, you should come and hang out on the DMP Mutual Support Thread, there's lots of support and question-answerers there which might deal with your difficulties of juggling multiple threads.

    Best of luck

    SAAC
  • Hi I agree totally with everything SAAC has said to you. Things really do get easier. This initial stage is so totally exhausting, as you are trying to find out so much information and get everything dealt with and sorted. But ...........once those letters are in the post, you will feel a massive relief. You can cross that off your list , take a little bit of time out to chill , sleep and eat. I promise you will feel so much better soon.

Oh and the DMP Support Thread is a great help in the initial stages.

  • Thank you one and all for your help, much appreciated :T

Just to quickly let you know I made the postal order out to OPUS in the end!

I posted back the CCCS Debt Remedy pack I signed and completed, and all the letters to my creditors (with the £1 token payments in), this morning on my way to work, all 1st Class "Recorded Delivery" :)

It's out of my hands now I guess, so over to CCCS and their (hopefully) excellent powers of persuasion to my creditors.

    Goodnight

  • Well Done Rochdale !:T

I found that oneof the hardest steps, actually admitting it all and getting those letters sent. Once it was I felt like a great weight had been lifted.

Now to relax, sit back and wait. Keep posting we would love to hear how you are getting on :)

  • Thanks everyone.

Just thought I'd post an update:

I have given in trying to get my wages paid into the new account, I'm getting nowhere spending precious energy and making myself ill :(

I have received all the Co-Op account paperwork, new Debit card, PIN number (separate post!), and now a letter saying:

"I am pleased to confirm I have now set up the Direct Debits and standing orders you requested to transfer from your RBS account.

    What we've done
We have contacted the Direct Debit companies with your new account details and they should update their records within the next 10 working days so all payments should be transferred by 21st February."

No letters from creditors (yet!) or phone calls, so touchwood, things have settled down a bit now.

Thanks everyone, crisis avoided..... until tomorrow (I predict!)

    Ha ha :)

Will cross post this unusually upbeat post of mine on the other threads I started for those who were following those epic plea's for help. Please don't moan if you read these exact same words in any of my other threads, just trying to help!

  • No worrying post for me today! :j

Maybe this will be a peaceful weekend? :)
    .
  • Well, out of the 7 letters sent 1st class 'recorded delivery' post, only 3 of them have been signed for which is worrying me:

    a) CCCS - they have now set up my DMP which starts 1st March :)
    b) Northern Rock - (aka NRAM - Northern Rock Asset Management)
    c) MBNA in Chester.

The Opus, MINT, Barclaycard and RBS credit cards were all Post Box addresses.

Can you send recorded delivery mail to a P.O.Box address? Woman behind the counter didn't say I couldn't.....

Hmmm, nervous stomach setting in and feelings of impending doom for tomorrow (today!) coming across :(
    .
  • Sit tight Rochdale its really early days !

Great news on the CCCS starting date !

MBNA were great with us, they responded more or less immediately in writing very positively, and the calls stopped immediately.

Northern Rock I have no experience of, but give them a few days to reply.

I'm not with CCCS, I used CASHflow instead, so I'm not sure if the letters will come directly to you or CCCS, but somebody out there should be able to tell you. I'm assuming they will go to CCCS if they are managing the DMP for you.

Give the others a bit longer, a similar thing happened with our letters to M&S and Santander, I gave them 3 weeks ish I think and then sent them more letters. We did in the end have to call them and they amazingly professed to have finally received the letters all in one go the day I called ! Total rubbish of course, but once again all responded favourably.

Sit tight and breath, I hope your weekend was a little less stressful than in recent weeks !! :D

  • Oh forgot to say the majority of my recorded letters were sent to PO Box numbers, so can't see any problem there. If they go to the wrong dept, they will get passed on to the correct one, but may just take them a little longer .
