  • Don't know about one for a lefty MrsMadMand but I have a really old cheapy one that has lasted around a billion years. I've never had this conversation with anyone lol, so I didn't realise it would be an issue for anyone.

Its a REAL problem for me! I struggle with all sorts of things that are 'made' for right-handed people....take cake forks for example (clearly a HUGE issue in my house :D). Thicker on one side than the other - but impossible to use with your left hand coz the thicker bit is on the wrong side! And don't even get me started on dress-making scissors....

Sorry to divert from the OP....As you were people!!

I've now reached the stage where osteoarthritis in my hands makes manual tin openers really painful to use. I resent having to ask OH to do it for me all the time so he bought a Kenwood electric one which does the business well.

That said I'd probably opt either for Brabantia or the real basic one from Wilkos if I were to buy another manual!
  • Not read all the way through so sorry if somebody has already mentioned it. This is the one I use

I bought it 3 years ago and it is still going strong OH can even use it and he is left handed.

    The Asda £2 one.

I'm another one here who went through a few awful tin openers over a few months. It was driving me nuts!
Ended up with the Smart Price metal butterfly type from Asda and it's great. Cost just 36p and I'm so happy I bought it!

I find the basis metal ones difficult. They hurt my hands. I have a supermarket cheapy, but somewhere in my boxes i have an old one that screws into the wall. Its much better easier that way, and worth keeping eye outfor one at car boots if you like vintage kitchenalia, i love mine.
