I always look up stuff like this on Amazon as you can see the reviews other people have written, also have a look at Richersounds. Never heard of Powerprice.

    I always check Amazon too.

That's what worries me never heard of Powerprice.....

Richersounds didn't have a hard disc recorder in our price range, the ones they did have that got decent reviews were all collect in store...
  • Humax itself is a well trusted brand. They make some of the best Freesat and Freeview boxes around.

You don't say which platform-Freeview or Freesat?
    Assuming the former, job done:
    http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product.asp?ProdRef=10068
For Freesat, you'l have to go over that budget.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Sorry freeview.....That's the one I was looking at on Powerprice.

Just never heard of the company before and I know Google has thrown up some dodgy companies before.

Not sure we want a refurbished one. If it was us we might do but as it's family not sure we want to take the risk.:D

A refurrb is a good as new-probably better. Still has a full 12m warranty.

Yes I suppose you're right you only get one year anyway even with a new one...

Well I had a chat with them and we'll go for the refurb. I believe grade A is returns, slightly damaged and such like....

Thanks for all the advice much appreciated. Not sure what some folk would do with this DSO if they didn't have families to sort it out for them. :o

Edited to add once you add on the postage it's not much cheaper than a new one

    Decisions, decisions....

Unfortunately there seems to be a lack of 9300T Humax's out there so we're debating what to do next go for the refurb, buy from pixmania and hope we get some cashback or order from somewhere like John Lewis and get the added reasssurance of another years warranty for £15

I thought it would be a case of getting it from Richer Sounds but they don't sell it.

Why does it have to be so complicated

Is is that supplies are being affected by the hard drive shortage?
