Firstly let me say I love red, its my favourite colour, but I really really dislike red nails on myself. I decided to go for something subtly red instead. Apologies if this is a bit of a cheat



I've joined the flickr group and will upload todays red to my blog (which is so new I dont think anyone even knows about it so any links would be good! lol)

I don't think that is a cheat at all. So long as there is red in the design who cares?

I will upload mine when I get home from work. Managed to get in - yay! So tired though

Thank you! Hand painted the french tips then when they were dry I taped off the bottom of the nail and stamped the design at the top

I mentioned the challenge to DD when she came out of school tonight (she's coming up for 15). She instantly said "Can I join in!!". I was secretly rather pleased because I much prefer to paint someone else's nails than my own, so here is Eleanor's effort for 'Red Day'.




As its Wimbledon week I thought Strawberries (with a cream accent nail).
Worth noting though the Sally Hansen Insta Dri doesn't really get on so well with Acrylics. Though the base coat is Red Rimmel everything else is hand painted acrylic and the Insta Dri tends to make the finer detail run. Lesson learned for next time!

I use acrylics and just paint straight on to the nail. I bought a load of nail art pens last year but soon discovered I could get better effects just by hand painting. As long as its sealed with a top coat its just the same as using varnish. I tend to use varnish for the big colours (like the red and white base on that pic) then add the detail with tiny paintbrushes.

I have a degree in Graphic Design so painting small, fiddly things is great fun for me. I get frustrated with my own nails because I can't get the same detail as I can from sitting painting someone elses. Fortunately Ellie is a willing victim hehe

I also discovered my yahoo let me join flickr without fuss - except I've no idea what my yahoo password is so I'm fine so long as the computer doesn't forget it too!
