My absolute fave are the linear holos.
I have to do this http://www.nailgalore.my/2010/08/nail-art-colour-blending.html
Those Catherine Arley ones look nice, I've got heard of that brand before. I like the look of 803 & 674.0 -

They're lovely! I just found this and love the blue - I generally find the blues, purples and greens are the best for the holo effect.0 -
Well I've bought my helmer! My attempt at putting it together however was unsuccessful! Have done something wrong somewhere so OH is going to take it apart and try again tomorrow! The shame!!!
Oh another note at work we are having a jubilee party at work on Friday, and want to do my nails with the union jack! Any recommendations to the right polishes and way to do this?!0 -
Union Jack nails...
I have considered this because my friend wants them done for her jubilee party.
I have suggested she has all her nails as a base colour, and then the thumb and ring finger on each hand as a half of a union jack so when you put your fingers together it makes a full union jack.
Start with the white, then red. Then add the blue in with a tiny brush.0 -
I've been trying to work out if there's a way to do union jack nails with masking tape. I know I could paint the stripes freehand but I'm too much of a neat freak and I couldn't abide it if they were wonky.
I'm planning to do an England flag manicure using masking tape, for the Euros next month. If that works out ok I might have a bash at union jack nails for the Olympics.
This tutorial looks do-able...

Could you do a Union Flag on your ring fingers and the rest of your nails in say (diagonally) half blue, half red and have a white stripe separating the two? It would take hours to paint a flag on each nail! Otherwise you can easily get some stickers for a pound or two - my option

That link takes me back to the union jack stickers on ebay, did you post the right one?
Those stickers are definitely the way to go by the way. S0d messing about with masking tape :T0 -
I have spent most of the day,( in between sunbathing!) reading this thread. I have determined to start looking after my nails better (for example, to stop using them as screwdrivers) and thought this thread might inspire me. I am so impressed by the photos and effects some of you can do - at the moment I'm happy to focus on getting healthy, strong nails that will look good with polish.
I just thought I'd post a link to this site - I first found this make up brand in Spain and although I haven't tried the nail products, they have good reviews - lots of colours including glitters - and the nail art brushes are reduced to £1.50.

Thanks for the inspiration and I'll keep reading!0 -
I found an A-England stockist and it works out cheaper to import them from overseas than it does to buy them from their own website http://shop.llarowe.com/A-England-The-Legends-Collection_c20.htm
