You can use Tesco vouchers at Eden Project which makes it a lot cheaper.

Other than that we usually just go to the beach when in Cornwall, Padstow is worth a visit although can be very busy. Also Port Isaac and Boscastle.

a couple of years ago and had a fab time!
  • Order a past copy of Gardeners’ World Magazine, (May 2011 edition), that includes a 2 for 1 discount card on over 260 gardens around the UK, (including the Eden Project) & is valid until 30 April 2012, (some restrictions on use).

Things to recommend: Really depends what sort of things you like doing - there's loads of stuff to see and do there. Recommend look at the Trip Advisor listings (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g186234-Activities-Cornwall_England.html - ignore all the surf school listings as they seem to have a ratings war going on at the moment!).

Cornwall is a fairly long county so activities in Bude would not be much use if you are staying in Penzance. Keep an eye out in the local papers and freebies for discount vouchers.

If you are visiting the Eden Project (which I was not overly impressed with) there is the China Clay museum very near by which although sounds really dull is quite an interesting couple of hours out! If you are a National Trust member, then you get into gardens cheaply - and there are loads of decent gardens that way, but I guess that most will not be open at end of February (?).

Also if you are driving, recommend stopping off at Trago Mills near Newton Abbot on the way there or back. It is a "retail park" where you can buy just about anything with some real bargains with attractions for kids, owned by some chap with extreme anti-EU views (despite being happy to employ loads of Polish staff) - its worth seeing for the sheer oddness of the place! Its free parking and splits the journey up.

Can't help with the Eden tickets, I live in Cornwall and have only been the once :o

There are loads of things to do but depends where you're going to be based. If you're staying within mid Cornwall, I.e Truro, Newquay St Austell etc then you can pretty much go to the west, east or north of the county pretty easily.

Things that spring to mind are:

Pleasure boat from Truro to Falmouth - in Falmouth you can go to the maritime museum, see Pendennis Castle, catch a boat to the lovely St Mawes. You could even visit Trago Mills (as suggested above) as there is a smaller one in Falmouth, there is also a huge Trago Mills near Liskeard. The Trago here is in nice surroundings with ponds and rivers, it even has it's own resident Peacocks which wonder about the car parks and the grounds. It's hard to explain Trago Mills, I guess it's a department with store where you will most probably find really obscure items, it is relatively cheap. They sell pretty much anything and everything!

There's the steam railway in Bodmin, really nice to ride around the countryside in an old steam train.

The cliff edge Minack Theatre. Visit lands end or the lizard, St Michaels Mount, go to Tintagel and learn about King Arthur.

You can use Tesco vouchers for Newquay Zoo but not sure about the Sealife Centre. Again as already suggested Paradise Park is a nice place to visit, there is also Flambards and the Seal Sanctuary which are close together, also close by is Roskilly's Farm....might too cold to try out one or a few of their ice cream (they have some strange flavours). Roskilly's is near Goonhilly (big satellite dishes), something else which might be of interest.

There are loads of places to go and things to see but these are a few of the things that my family from London like to do when they visit.

    thanks for all the replies

we are staying in Camelford, North Cornwall
  • Camelford is 10 mins from me. You have some fabulous beaches within a stones throw, sand, rock pools or surf. It's all there. Plus you are right on the edge of Bodmin moor. Beautiful walks, pubs and fresh air.

What sort of things do you like? Do you have kids? Will you have your car?
