When I first started I emailed friends, and people I know, to tell them I had a blog, and put the link in the email so they could look at it if they wanted to. A few did. Then I started reading other peoples blogs and made comments on them. Every time you do this it leaves your footprint there, and other people can click on that and be taken to your blog. A few people found my blog that way.
It snowballs, bloggy people read each others blogs, sometimes they follow them, or some only read them. I have written 1121 posts, most with photographs, yesterday I had 1327 page views, and last month I had 37,207 page views. I could monetise my blog but I choose not to. It's a blog about my life, my interests, and living within my means on a pension.
If you are wanting to set up a blog purely for money making purposes, you still have to entice people to it by writing interesting articles. Then when you have built up your followers you can introduce advertising, but it takes a long time. If you start a blog and just fill it with adverts for people to click on, no one will bother looking at it.

Thank you Emuchops. It started as a hobby and is still a hobby. The point I am trying to get over to the OP is that it takes a lot of work to get to this position, it wont happen overnight, no matter how many adverts you put on it.
What annoys me when I am researching something for my blog, on the internet, is how many dead ends I come up against. Sites that appear to be a legitimate source of information which are no more than a collection of advertisements with very little content. Infuriating.

Dont be disheartened, I like sixties music. I could read your blog if you put the link into your contact details in your profile. You can put the link into your Facebook also, that would get people looking. It would be a start.

I've read your blog and commented. You've made a good start. As you are studying media, writing a blog will be an excellent way of practising your communication skils. Keep at it, this could be the start of something big. All blogs start from nothing, some bloggers end up becoming quite famous. Best of luck.
