  • It really comes down to whether there was a breach of contract. If there was, then the CC could be held (jointly) liable.

    In the absence of other info, I agree with the comments above. But if the dealer offered any particular assurances/warranties/representations which were part of the agreement or induced you to buy the car, then you could have a claim. Of course evidence would be useful...

    That was my immediate thought too!! Exactly what my car was, and the garage bloke didn't half laugh when I rolled in to the garage (in the car, not literally) with steam pouring out! (again, out of the car...)

    Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I know a car is some peoples life line and when it breaks it can be quite traumatic. As suggested, I'm sure it can be fixed quite cheaply, you need to do a bit a googling for a reputable garage. Or do an autotrader search for a cheap car. I hope things work out.
