Greedy cat...help!

I do not think she is greedy - she is simply hungry.
Fred, my big boy never ever touches dry food. I tried to "force" him by not giving him more of wet food than the others get but I had hell at home with him so gave up and accepted that he needs to eat more wet as he does not eat dry. So he gets 1/3 of a tin and the 2/3 of the same tin get divided between my other 3 cats. The other 3 top up with dry, Fred never ever.
Then the same in the evening, Fred gets the bigger share.
In between him and Macous still pester me for whatever I have on my plate/in my hand etc etc0 -
perhaps use a complete dry food as well. That will have more nutrients than standard cat biscuits.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

The vet suggested meal times were structured as feeding titbits encourages bad habits.
Once they're that old, though, do 'habits' really matter any more? My Tufter's 16 and I think he's now an old git who's entitled to eat when he likes - it's far too late to estblish routines. As long as he doesn't overeat and become obese (which is a laughable idea), what's the harm in him having constant access to food?
I hear your licking thing though! Yesterday I had some Boursin and crackers and dropped a crumb on my duvet. The cat lept up and started licking the entire duvet cover just in case he could find moreHe also followed me to a neighbour's house (5 doors down) and started miaowing in his garden!
Tufter will eat high-quality dry food but experience shows us that it always makes him ill - he can't seem to digest it properly. So he has Felix 'As Good As It Looks' Senior wet pouches, and I sometimes pick him up some real fish.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

When I have a good month, my lot get this:
Iams - sorry, won't comment as do not want to start (another) war on the forum.
But as above poster said, try some complete, good quality cat food.
Not sure about kidneys/food and if she should be on special diate because of that? Has the vet said anything?0 -
my god, poor little thing, i would be feeding up her constantly. im not a fan of wet food, mine get that in emergencies when i run out of their dry food and they go through it like vultures, it doesnt seem to fill them up
i would be giving her anything and everything, if she wants a tin of tuna, slices of ham, bits of chicken, wet food, dry food, give her whatever she wants0 -
The kidney thing is being tested in a few weeks as she was really distressed during the last visit to vet and because it involved taking blood they scheduled it later on.
I thought Iams was ok and she goes wild for it more than anything else ... oh dear.
I'm going to research these higher quality brands...cost wise I have no issues but tend to get food from pets at home as it's convenient so that means Iams, Science Plan, James Beloved (I think it's called that!) and probably even naughtier ...whiskers!0 -

I would do exactly the same.. at her age I would not worry about "forming habits" but about the quality of life and enjoyment - whatever she has left...0 -
mine get hills maintenance but they used to get iams until the 'light' version seemed to vanish, they love it0

Zoplus does free delivery for orders over £19 and the food they sell is good quality.
I am sure someone here will recommend some good quality dry too.
What about raw meat, do you ever give her raw meat?
My lof love raw chicken wings, chicken drumstics or beef/pork mince.0 -
I'll be trying that website and could look at buying a big bulk of food at beginning of month so it lasts.
She doesn't have raw meat...we give her ham slices and prawns/chicken/tuna etc but again I'm definately going to try it
I'll try and post pictures as I am concerned people think 'poor thing' because of her weight. We are working on building it up with advise from the vets although she is so little she doesn't look boney. She is also really happy (or seems it anyway! )...just hungry..permanently!0
