I went back to the Smart website and the credit card page has been taken off!!!
This morning I’ve called the credit card department and have been advised that all of their credit cards hold a 3% BT fee...
I explained that on application I questioned the BT fee and was advised that it was 0%. The person I spoke to today has logged a complaint for me and I’ve stated that I won't be signing the agreement until I have confirmation in writing that there will be no fee. I've also asked for them to listen to the conversation of the credit card application between myself and their member of staff.
I will update further when I hear anything.
By the way I was accepted for the Platinum card if that makes a difference.
yup - you're not wrong... the credit card page from the smart website has been taken off.
It's a good think i saved the webpage. This is what it said
"smart savings
It's not all about saving the planet, though. With 0% p.a. on purchases and balance transfers for the first 6 months your account is open, no balance transfer fee and free online Fraud Protection, these funky little credit cards are smart through and through."0 -
I got my pin yesterday but am still waiting for the card. (my acceptance letter was dateed 03/02/07)0

Sent my signed agreement of to them in the week, so just waiting for the card and PIN and will then do my balance transfer...
Just phoned Smart up and the person I spoke to insisted that there was no balance transfer fee, so who knows.......
Regardless, if I have already signed an agreement at 0% with no fees, surely they cannot just move the goalposts like this.....can they?0 -

Just checked the Sainsburys site and their Advantage card which offers 5 month at 0% with no fee is still available to apply for - this is also run by Halifax. I am therefore hoping that the person damonflash spoke too had the wrong facts. It is true that Halifax does have a standard BT fee of 3% but not for special promotions which Smart and Sainsburys should be under.0 -
It may be worth merging this thread with the one below...

had my acceptance letter on 05/02 and pin on 14/02 but still no card - so rang them today and asked if it had been sent and CS said that they had been overwhelmed with applications (prob from us!) and had run out of cards so were having more made! - was given a healthy 7.2k limit and promised card in a week to 10 :j0
