Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Back to the coal face this morning, I wonder what this week will bring?
I just hope they have solved the problem with the new software as I find it really difficult when I can't do my job properly through no fault of my own.
Hubby's on lates so he will walk to work & I'll collect him about 10ish.
The snow is nearly gone, but it may be icy so it will be a cautious drive to work.
Stay safe & take care everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester - best of luck at work this week.
Wasn't planning such an early start today - but hey ho! Dinner tonight is chicken casserole and veggies. Whilst boys are at school I have to hoover and wash floors. Need to keep the house clean and tidy. Am expecting to have to drop the house price to £250,000 which is a shame, but we need to sell this so we can all be together. Snow almost all melted now which is good, but a shame for the kids!
BBC 1 is doing a report from the NEC about what the shops are buying to sell us at Christmas - they have some gorgeous things - shame the shops have to put a markup on it!!!2014 will be all about ME!
( well that hasn't happened!!!)
Mortgage free. Will be debt free in Nov 2014. Credit card £2500 -
Good morning all.
Still plenty of snow here. I'm not driving in it to go to work, so i'll be walking. Will walk daughter to school, thats about 4 miles and then about a further half a mile for me to get to work. Not looking forward to walking but needs must. Daughter has said there is no way she can miss her lessons today. Hopefully my dad will be able to pick us up later when we have finished. He doesn't mind driving in the snow.
Packed lunches are all done. Washing has been put on the airer. Sausages, egg and chips for tea.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them. Stay safe in the snow.

Morning all, and all who follow. Still got snow here so am fretting a bit about the trip to work and that hill We'll see how it goes. Hoping it stays above freezing with enough sunshine today to get rid of the most of it (unlikely) to make me feel confident again at driving. Guess I'm still a bit new to it all. Enchiladas for tea - something nice, comforting and warming. Have a good day everyone, and keep warm (((hugs)))

Morning All,
For all those who still have snow and are having to drive/walk around, be careful and just take it slowly. I am always amazed when I see girls here running on the ice in their high heels (streets don't get salted or gritted at all, so snow always turns to a thick layer of ice).
I am still plodding away at my scarf, but that is about the only OS I have been doing today. I did bring lunch into work, although I do that everyday, so not sure it could be counted as OS anymore.
Have a good day everyone. Stay warm.0 -
Morning all,
Feels cold here, but we have no frost at all.
DD is off to placement today to the creche attached to where I work, she is there all week and really looking forward to working with the children.
So I have a day to myself, which I intend to fill with housework, baking, sending ebay parcels, visiting dad, walking little dog and doing an online shop, and If I get time, I will do a couple of hours on my paid office jo, otherwise that can wait till tomorrow.
Roast pork roasties and veggies tonight, so need to get that prepared too, oh and I have a few loads of washing too, but that depends on the weather.
What I would like to do, is sit on the sofa, and stuff myself with wine ./ chocs and watch films all day, but thats never going to happen , so I had better get on.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Several inches of snow still on the ground here and just to make it interesting we now have mist/fog too! Snow hasn't melted at all so will make for an interesting journey to work - but the main roads don't appear to be too bad. We'll see. DH up and gone into work. Boys up and had brekkie, I'm trying to find out whether their school is open - typical no message on the school ansaphone, nothing on the website and nothing on the county council website and no-one at the school to ask - how we supposed to find out then?!! Lunch yesterday was lovely roast beef, yorkshires, roasties, cauli/brocc cheese, carrots, peas and gravy - was delicious - just the right meal as it was so cold outside. Tonight will be egg, bacon, sausage etc.
Take it steady everyone x
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning everyone. There's still a bit of snow here, reckon it's mostly gone in town so hopefully I'll survive the walk to work. I've got a milk bottle (another HH tip) of soup for lunches this week and a few slices of the bread I made last night. Very pleased with the bread, it's my best yetLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0

Got to make lunches in a minute, then get the train to work.
Kitchen needs cleaned tonight, and we should hear back about FILs tests at the hospital later today.
Be safe and have a good day all

Morning everyone,
Still lots of snow and ice here so I am walking to work and then walking to my second school at lunchtime forfeiting my lunch hour. I am terrified of driving in the snow so it is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
Netball training has already been called off so once I am home this evening I don't have to go anywhere. That type of evening is very rare!
Tea tonight is LO roast pork and coleslaw and jacket spuds.
Be careful in the snow everyone and hope that your day is better Hester.
Hugs to all in need.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
