Would you pay £16 for a lipstick?

My favourite lipstick (Clinique) has now gone up to £16, I love the colour but it doesn't stay put any more than any other lipstick I've used but I just love this one, its so creamy and the colour is nice and its the only shade I use.

But £16 does seem a bit steep now just for one lipstick, do you think its worth it or are there cheaper and better or just as good ones?

Yes probably if I liked it enough.
  • How long does it normally last you? Is it for everyday use or just when you get out etc?

I tend to buy cheaper stuff for everyday wear and my nicer Benefit make up is kept for when I go out so it last waaaaaay longer. Plus I don't feel so bad forking out £25 on a blusher if I only have to do it once every 6 months

I would, but before I buy it next time I'd be trying samples of different ones.

You do use a brush don't you, to get every last bit out of it?

  • I wouldn't pay £16, no. I think it's extremely steep for a lipstick. Perhaps you could find a similar shade by a cheaper brand?

I wear it every day, I only use that one lipstick so its not as if I'm buying different ones, ie say two No7 lippies in a different shade would still cost me the same, but the Clinique one doesn't last as long as the No7 ones, it soon goes down and it seems a lot of money to pay for something that doesn't last.

Yes, i would. Aslong as I had the money ie no debt. When you go to the counter though ask if they have foundation samples or perfume, something you like. You'll get more for your money then.

    Even using a lip brush?

I haven't bought a clinique lipstick for years, but they were my favourite for a while, and i still hVe some (i don't worry about useby dates, but i do bish stuff if i had a cold sore or eyemakeup if i were to have an eye infection or something). I used to find they lasted quite well.

I would have a look at the market. If its the only lipstick you ever wear having a change could update you look and be more flattering. But if you love this lipstick and you can eek more out of it with a brush than you are and are not in debt or struggling then tbh its less bad than many indulgances. E.g. I expect it lasts you more than 16 weeks and many people spend a pound on chocolate a week...

It really doesn't matter if it's worth it to us-It's if it's worth it to YOU.

We all have our indulgences be they handbags, chocolate, glossy mags, holidays and if we want them enough we make room in our budget for them-What would you save by using a cheaper brand and where would the saved money go instead ?
