I have just received my statement of account from jd williams, I owe £1003.65 - the joke is I've just worked out that since December 2007 I've been charged £533.34 on interest charges and £495.19 in admin charges, I make this £1028.43 meaning my entire balance is made up of charges and I've paid for EVERYTHING I ever ordered from them. Yet this balance of 1003.65 is still outstanding and growing every month. Can i claim anyyhing back?! Can I do anything?! Help please!!
Thank you in advance x

Dear Sir/Madam,
Ref: (account number)
I am writing to question the Admin and Interest Charges applied to my Naturally Close/JD Williams account, amounting to: Admin charges and adjustment fees - £495.19 and Interest Charges - £533.24.
I do not believe these costs reflect the true cost to Naturally Close/JD Williams and would like the charges to be repaid in full/removed from my account. I am a loyal customer of JD Williams and as my account stands – the full outstanding balance owed is £1003.65. These charges add up to £1028.43 – I have effectively over paid for good received from you by £24.78.
I look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully
Hope this helps you...

I'd love to know what happened with this and what answer you got to your letter. Please can you give an update? Many thanks!0 -
Hiya
I received a reply from them stating they were well within their rights to charge these admin costs and that they wouldnt be refunding me.
So i wrote a follow up letter to them to inform them once again that their charges were extortionate and that i will see them in court.
Received no reply from them after this, about three weeks later i checked my account and found that they had refunded all the admin costs of around £400 but not the interest charges (as these are apparently legal and they are allowed to charges these). Im still very happy with the £400 refund i received so its worth doing for defo.Close to the edge - close to giving up!!

This is a fantastic result, i'll give it a try myself. Can i ask how you worked out all the charges? I know i havent kept all my statements......0 -
I sent them an email and a letter requesting a statement of my account since it was opened. This was sent out to me within a week, i went through it and highlighted all the 12 pound charges and the interest charges (which cant be refunded sadly!) and sent a copy of it off to them with the charges highlighted with the letter just stating i wanted them refunded.
It was all very simple
good luck!!Close to the edge - close to giving up!!

Got my full statemtns back from JD Willimams. Admin charges total £553-00 and my balance is only £575-00.
Am sending off a letter today requesting a refund. Wish me luck.
And, again, thanks for your help.0 -
Hi Folks,
I received a reply from JD Williams stating (to paraphrase) that their Admin charges were justified and they would not be refunding them.
Could somebody please kindly advise where to go next, and what wording to use in the next letter, please?
