    As I understand it, the Panasonic DMR-EX773EBK _IS_ a (HDD) DVD recorder!!!

    Melbury had a legitimate question, and got a reasonable answer from Macman - some PVRs will allow archive recordings (copied off elsewhere, e.g. to network or USB drives), most won't.
