Sad but true.
So Lehman Bros, Moodys and Greenspan are socialists?
Apologies for going off thread but ..........0 -

Not in my book, but you seem to harbour unusual views on a variety of subjects, so why not this one?Apologies for going off thread but ..........
I fear it was my fault and I've now given myself a stern talking to.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
It's a very American thing to blame the recent economic disasters on 'socialism' but it couldn't be further from the truth.
although the Gordon Brown model of "if the private sector wont employ them then let the public sector do it and give the rest benefits whilst we borrow the money for everything we do" model does have more socialist roots than others.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Yep, if only we'd had more "financial advisers" flogging mortgages, unit trusts and investment bonds, things could have been so different.although the Gordon Brown model of "if the private sector wont employ them then let the public sector do it and give the rest benefits whilst we borrow the money for everything we do" model does have more socialist roots than others.0 -

'fraid you missed the point, or maybe you didn't want to acknowledge that failed capitalists relied on the state (socialism) to bail them out.0 -
'fraid you missed the point
I suspect that even if I hit the point for a fleeting moment, you'd only go and change it.
Capitalism may not be perfect, particularly when coupled with weak or often even complicit government, but it's the best we've got.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

In which case you'll probably only ever be able to suspect. (joke)
As to the second point, who gave us the NHS, and who, or rather which organisation did their best to scupper it?0 -

A tangent off a tangent that's perpendicular to another tangent. Thinking in straight lines, and building solid arguments on solid foundations, isn't easy, but I've always found it worth that extra bit of effort.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I was led to believe that tangents related to circles only, but maybe my memory is failing me. Solid arguments based on similar foundations is good. But thinking in straight lines sounds like herd mentality to me.0 -

Any curve can have a tangent, it's just the first differential; schoolboy maths, surely? But thinking in straight lines sounds like herd mentality to me.
Really? Why? Clarity of thought is good, and also (it seems) lamentably rare.
Members of a herd just follow each other and there is little thinking involved. ("Herd mentality"; Oxymoron; Discuss) It's not for me, but I'm happy to observe where their footsteps thunder to see if it can suggest where I should circle next.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
