Bit off topic - but can you always list for free if you start the auction at under 99p?

There is a maximum number of listings per month (which in my opinion for a personal ebayer rather than a business is very generous) but yes you can list for free if your starting price is under 99p. You still pay the selling fees and the PayPal fees though.

The OP should be very careful about giving any info that identifies them on an open forum like MSE. I would strongly suggest that OP keeps exact details to her self, we never know who is lurking on these boards waiting to do mischief as they can be read without a log in name.

How would revealing the name of the artist cause hassle?

Oooh! Thanks - was waiting for a free-listings day to get rid of some e-bay stuff I bought that doesn't fit.

If it is a fairly unusual artist and in the wrong category most of us could find it in seconds. Most of us could probably even find a more popular artist in the wrong category in less than 2 minutes.

Just remember if you start at 99p and only get one bid then you need to still sell the items. Only risk it if you are prepared to get 99p.

Ignore the buyer AND block them from bidding - just in case.

They may buy it and then do an item not as described. Stranger things have happened.

Sounds a loony anyway - with too much time on their hands.

either ignore or simply reply ta for info. i once had someone send me a furious pm asking why i had listed an item as "rare" and threatening reports to "authorities". as item was hard to find, no longer made, and rarely on ebay, all i could do was roll my eyes and wonder at the loons out there.

It's used clothes that only cost me 99p. So I don't mind.
