Can someone help me here. There's a full article on this in teh Credit Card section which answers the question. I always get a bit confused why people don't go and read that first.
There's no negative on the original poster here as this happens all the time. But what can be done to help this?

I am off to Florida in July, so should I open a current account with Nationwide and then apply for a credit card?0

I'm sure Gal will answer for the CC board but as I just posted on this thread and then read your post Martin, I would say it happens on every board. Certainly I try to point users to your articles in the Telephony Boards but still users post as if they have never read your articles.
Perhaps the new links along the top of each board could pertain to the relevant article for that board.0 -
We need to sort out the sticky posts, some of which are no longer that fresh, and instead create a comprehensive FAQ a link to which should appear on every page of the CC forum if possible. I simply do not have time to do this just now.0

Martin, I think it's just that people aren't in the habit of checking for existing advice before asking questions! Also I think a lot of people will find the site through the forums (google search or whatever), and think "ah, a forum, let's ask that question..." before they discover the wealth of knowledge in your guides.
Still, you can tell people all you want and they'll still ask questions that have already been answered - e.g. when I worked in a shop you could be standing a few metres from a row of tills with a huge sign above them saying "PAY HERE" and people would still come up to you and ask where you pay...student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -

Have you tried to find an answer in ***** section before posting a question?!
Warning must have link(s) and could be different for different boards.0
