Be careful about REDEPLOYMENT

Hello all
I'd like to thank the people who gave me very good advice on here recently.
Sorry if this is a long post, but, please bear with me.
Unfortunately I didn't follow up on some of it, as I was convinced I was ok and doing the right thing on redeployment. Please take this as an example a big pitfall....
Update:
1. Worked continuously for 11 years.
2. Offered VR or RD.
3. On sick last few months with depression. Boss, colleague and family encouraged me to try redeployment as job climate very bad.
4. Attended 'informal discussion' (with boss as support - 4 interviewers)
5. Told in phone call, confirmed in letter my role wasn't comparable.
6. Asked what this meant via phone, but, mention of vacant posts (non-comparable).
7. Got a straight answer from this site that it means redundancy. Someone was direct and honest with me!
8. Boss said verbally I could appeal, (2 weeks, now past) but boss felt it 'wasn't worth it for the stress I would get and no guarantee to have decision reversed'. Also said I didn't have to apply if there were no suitable jobs.
9. Received letter stating that I couldn't appeal the decision, and my 'post did not exist in the new structure'.
10. Recieved list of non-comparable jobs, letter stating most were temporary & I would lose the right to redundancy.
11. Also told in letter that even if I didn't state a job preference, I would not be eligible for redundancy.
12. I did not ask at any stage whether I was on notice, or how RD would effect my rights. I took it for granted that my best interests were being looked after.
Lesson learned!
I take responsibility as it was my decision - however I convinced myself (and others) that I was well enough at every stage (& boss asked each time) to do it.
I now realise that I wasn't functioning on all cyclinders, didn't listen to my gut instinct that I wasn't well enough to cope yet, and now I am back to square one, thinking very negative thoughts, terrible sleep (if any), etc. Unfortunately I nearly did something silly but talked myself out of it.
I now feel, for the sake of my mental health, that I need to walk away and focus on getting better.
So, please take this as a warning of what not to do.
Please don't be offended if I can't reply, I am struggling, but whilst I am having a lucid moment I do feel people should know if they are considering it. It has helped me to get this off my chest. I will try tocheck any replies, even if I don't feel I can post for a while...

You may have been the victim of constructive dismissal.
You may not feel up to it, but I would suggest it could help your "recovery" if you do something positive, rather than meekly give it and hide away. I would suggest you see a solicitor asap. Choose a solicitor who is experienced in employment law, many are not. Most solicitors will give an initial exploratory interview free of charge.
A friend of mine was told his job was redundant. At my suggestion and without much hope he saw a solicitor. He got his job back and full salary backdated for the time he was unemployed."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I would expect a redeployee to be given a 4 week work trial. If it did not work out then the redundancy would take effect.
Redeployment is a suitable alternative to compulsory redundancy, but it does not sound as if this is suitable for you.
You should seek proper advice to ensure you are being treated fairly before throwing the towel in.0 -
OP, sorry this has happened to you - you have laid it out so clarly it would only be a small step to take that summary along to a solicitor and see what they think, you have done the hard bit of summarising it all
Best wishesYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

As a redeployee yes you do lose redundancy rights - BUT both the employer and employee have 4 weeks to decide whether you will continue in that post. Within those 4 weeks I believe that you retain your redundancy rightsAll of my views are my own0

Most of the redeployment schemes seem to con you into taking the redeployment jobs BEFORE you have been issued notice of redundancy so it is just like accepting any new job there is no trial unless you negotiate one.
They either lie or stretch the truth a lot by saying if you don't apply for any job on the redeployment list you will loose your redundancy
If your job is going and their is no suitable alternative then you are entitled to redundacy.0 -
Hello all
Please bear with me, I don't feel up to replying to you all at the moment, but thank you v much for all your replies.
Unfortunately I have taken a turn for the worse, and am under review with the mental health crisis team. One of their members suggested the union and my husband is following this up on my behalf.
I will try to update soon,
Grateful thanks
