another thumbs up from M & S insurance from me. We have both our dogs insured with them and we pay no excess which our vets couldn't believe ! They paid out £1200 very quickly when we had to claim and the insurance premium did not increase at renewal.

I have heard M&S are good.

We are with E&L and pay £6 per month for our 2 year old pedigree Staffordshire Bull. We have made a claim once, it was a pain in the bum to claim but they paid up. Not sure if it would have been easier with another company or not sometimes it just the same old thing, quick to take your money but not so quick to pay out.

I was with E & L aswell, had a claim which took 4 months to pay out  I've cancelled my policies now and save the money. They did offer 15 % off to go back with them.
  • I was with M&S and had no claims then when the renewal came in before xmas the premium had shot up! £165 for one dog for a year. She's only ever been to the vets for her jabs I nearly died:eek: . I have to have her insured though because she may carry a genetic condition which would mean an expensive op costing about £5,000. Most companies don't cover this much. Fortunately insurance companies don't ask about genetic factors for pets because most people don't know their dog's genetic probabilities.

EEK I've just got a quote online for M&S and it's now showing £209 for one 5 year old !!!!!
    Petplan quote £38.30 a month !!!!

M&S' underwriters re-evaluated the policies last year and a lot of people got big increases. Hopefully it'll be a one off, as mine didn't rise at all the year before, but doubled this year.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

Funny you should mention this...just got off the phone from my mum and her pet insurance (1 dog) has gone up from £167 to £280 something with M&S.

Personally, we have rabbits so don't have a great deal of choice of insurance companies but I highly recommend Petplan (we pay about £15 a month for 2 rabbits). We've made a couple of claims with them now and they were quick to pay back the money. We have the policy where existing illnesses are covered. The downside obviously is we have to stay with Petplan, but our bunnies having Pasteurella means we don't have to worry about any extortionate future vet bills.
