New Wheel for Eos

Bore isn't so important, so long as it's at least as big as the original bore, you can get little plastic rings, called spigot rings, to fill in the gap.
You can also get spaces to deal with the offset but these are a pain in the backside to deal with.
PCD is vital, however.0 -

PCD is basically how far apart the holes for the wheelnuts are. If you don't get this one right then you wont be able to bolt the wheels to your car. It is absolutely essential that you get this correct.
Bore size is the big hole in the middle that the wheel sits on. Too small and the wheel wont go on, too big and there's a risk the wheel may not be exactly central when you tighten it up. Tapered wheelnuts help prevent this, but fitting a spigot ring to reduce the bore size to the exact size is better, spigot rings aren't too hard to obtain and once stuffed into the wheel tend to stay there.
Offset is fiddlier to explain, but basically if it's too high then your wheels end up sticking out too far, possibly sticking out beyond the wheelarches which is illegal. Too low and they will be too far in, which isn't illegal and can be corrected with spacer rings that fit between the wheel and the hub.
Incorrect offset can cause unpredictable handling and increased tyre wear.
Spacers are fine until some muppet at Kwikfit changes your tyres, doesn't notice the spacers and loses them. Best to get the correct offset to begin with to avoid this.
Just for giggles, Click here for a picture of a car with too low offset.
I did a quick google for your car and found these figures. You should check the markings on your own wheel to confirm them rather than relying on this:
PCD: 5x112mm (the 5 just means you have 5 wheelnuts)
Bore: 57.1mm
Offset: ET42
ebay has a handy wheel search thing where you can specify those exact requirements, however if you have the time it's also worth doing a general search on them as some people don't bother to fill in those fields, their auctions are harder to find and the prices are lower. I got a set of winter wheels for my GF's car for £22 thanks to that, although someone else on these very forums found them for me!0 -
Bore size is fairly important, if the new wheel is bigger, the weight is held on the wheel bolts, rather than the hub spigot to the wheel. Plastic spacers don't take any load, so don't really help.
Spacers mess this up as well.0 -
Ebay, or do a part search via one of the online vehicle recyclers (Scrap yards!)
Also, be nice to the warranty/parts manager at your dealership. They will often replace 'faulty' wheels under warranty, then sell them to the scrappies for around £5 a wheel. These faulty wheels can just have minor laquer peel, small scuff etc.
I used to buy complete sets for £20 and put them straight on ebay.0 -

Thanks for this and sorry for being daft... where do i check for the markings?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. Hi everyone,
I need a new wheel for my VW Eos (56 reg). I popped into the dealership who quoted £600. Eek!
I am going to see if I can get the current wheel refurbished... but other than that, have you got any suggestions on how to get this cost down?
Thanks!!
Friend of mine has just had a new alloy wheel on his VW after someone drove into the side of his car, didn't stop at a side road give way.
His wheel was only scratched, however, he was told by VW that part of the wheel has some sort of special machined finish that the refurb people can't replicate after repair/polishing/painting etc.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
