  • If anyone in the family likes swimming, there's the Splash complex in Stockton town centre.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!
  • I love Preston park and museum. Last time I went, a few years ago, we were charged a very small entrance fee and it was valid for a whole year. However, a quick google shows me it's closed for refurbishments until the summer.:(

    Plenty of things to do.

A new climbing wall has just opened in Middlesbrough,we've been and its really good, has bouldering too. Very easy to get to as well from Stockton. Its called Rock Antics
Mima, art gallery, free to get into, has interactive art and a nice cafe. As its in the centre of town you could do it in between shopping. Albert park is quite good and it next to dorman museum with a cheap cafe.

Preston Hall Museum, parts of it are still open but i think at the moment its free to get into. Yarm is also good, small town.

Another place is Summerhill in Hartlepool, has a bmx track, boulders to clamber on and good place to wander around on. Its free and open all day right through till after 9pm. Has parking to so ideal

In Stockton there's also splash and if you look on the website there might be a festival on.

Darlington has a good swimming baths called the dolphin centre and also has slides which are generally open all weekend.

Whitby is great and your right on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors which is great for walking , exploring. Whenver i take my 15 yr old cousins for a wander they love it. Even when they are wearing high heels!

    Ok, new dilemma!

We are meant to be travelling there tomorrow from the South West. Weather looks poor - snow here, none up there but -6 forecast.

Do we go or would that be daft from a safety point of view?

I'm slightly further north than Stockton and was driving around the Newcastle area this morning for work.

It was raining but it was so cold the rain was freezing on the road causing black ice. The roads and pavements just looked wet but it was really slippy. It was awful walking to school and back, then during the day there was accidents all over the place and several road closures.

If you do decide to drive up, take it easy and watch out for black ice.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Stockton here, and its currently only -1, roads have been fine all day. No sign of weather changing yet as the ground is still wet.

Ignore what others say, there is alot of lovely things to do around here. Restaurants: Caruso's Italian restaurant

Teenagers there is Teesside Park shopping complex, which has a Showcase Cinemas, KFC, Burger King, Mcdonalds, Hollywood Bowl, Pizza Hut etc.

Wouldn't recommend Stockton town centre personally, would say go to Middlesbrough instead

Introduce them to that classic Stockton dish - The Parmo!

That should satisfy any teenager's hunger pangs for a while. :D

overpriced tat sheds  is now good Shopping Centre with free parking, restaurants and Showcase Cinema - oh and a Casino.

It's funny isn't it, I actually love to criticise Teesside and prefer to associate myslef with Yorkshire (I live in Guisborough so can go either way). Yet when other people criticise the area I am immediately on the defensive:rotfl:
