  • I thought some prices were good, until they added nearly £5 P&P on it.

I think prices should included P&P, as you cant collect them..

Well, in defence of the retailers, they do have to actually pay to ship these items to you and when thinking of sale prices, they are cutting their profit margins to the bone and often selling at a loss in times like these. Imagine running an internet business and you not charging postage to ship the items, you'd go under very quickly. They don't arrive at our homes by magic, nor is the cost of wrapping materials free, they have to be paid for.

I like your idea, though the majority of the items that i purchase have free delivery. Be it Amazon, eBay retail sellers or recently the Lucozade website.

The P&P price should be included into the original price, so if an item was reduced to £18, it should be £18 delivered. They claim that its a one off price, though you cant actually go collect the item from the warehouse.

What would happen if i just purchased the item, but no P&P? Collection would be refused, and the item would not be sold.

Its just an extra way of extracting cash from the seller, and in reality the £18.50 trousers that they had in the sale, i picked up for £19 delivered from Amazon. The £18.50 becomes £23.49 with postage.

    A good deal? Not really.

Yes, I see your point totally. I rarely pay postage & packing charges either as I usually only shop from retailers who do charge it when I have a code from here for free P&P etc. Most of my shopping is done from Amazon (Prime member so I get free delivery and next day for no cost) and clothes wise my favourite retailers (Fat Face amongst others) normally have free P&P times etc) so I don't pay it hardly ever. In fact, the first time I have paid it in recent months is with this Craghoppers order and I paid it as I couldn't get those 2 pairs of walking trousers for me and him cheaper anywhere else, even with having to pay the postage charge on this occasion. A savvy shopper who the retailers target regularly (such as myself and others from here, the retailers know their regular customers) rarely do pay P&P. In 3 months of shopping on here over the Xmas/New Year period I shopped with M&S, House of Fraser (another big order to them last week, no P&P) The Body Shop, Top Shop, Mode in Pelle etc. etc. I didn't pay any postage charges. I didn't grumble paying it for the Craghoppers order as I rarely pay it and I save thousands shopping online from what I would pay on the high-street (where I would be cold, harassed, paying car park fees and petrol) etc.

The delivery charge is per order, not per item. Since they don't know how many items you're going to buy, how could they add it to the original price in any meaningful way?
