Dettol No Touch Handwash Refills

has anyone tried putting watered-down soap into one the dispenser?
I'm off to try it and see if it still pumps ok.... and more crucially, if he notices the difference
I was tight enough to try it
it did pump, even if you make it foamy it still seems to pump the stuff out, but I didn't like it. It made the soap too slippy and it slid off my hand as soon as it came out of the pump, so seemed to waste soap for me. I did refill with imperial leather shower gel not liquid soap though, because I had some cheap from an offer. It didn't really mix with the water that well either, even when I shook it a lot. It was more like a blob of soap with water round the edge. I did about 3/4's shower gel and 1/4 water.
If you find a better way of doing it I would love to hear it.
I've been heating the lids in boiling water to soften them up and then flipping the lids off with a knife. I think they will probably only last one or two more goes, the lids have stress marks through the plastic and look like they will crack, even though they were heated first.
Was wondering if you have a syringe or squirty bottle, do you need to drill a hole in the top to fill them? Has anyone tried just squirting the soap in the hole where it comes out? Or does it break the rubbery bit on the bottle? So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
Hope sharing saves some pain.0 -
I got DH to help me with this tonight as we have 3 of them gathering dust, due to me being a tight wad and not spending money on Dett0l replacements.
We drilled a hole through the top (as you look at the bottle in the holder) and then decanted some Ald! handsoap into an old washing up liquid bottle and then squeezed this into the dispenser - worked an absolute treat and took about 30 seconds to fill it up. The good thing is, DH drilled a hole in the very centre of the top of the bottle (where the indent is) and you don't even notice it! :j
Thanks for starting this thread OP as I wouldn't even of thought of refilling the bottles!

Now I know that you can refill them and how, even I might be tempted to invest in one.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I made a slit in the back of the bottle and insert the pump nozzle off cheap hand wash in and hey presto. I tried the adding water tip but found that the unit dribbled between pumps!! Lol0
