Dettol No Touch Handwash Refills

Hi, I got some of these for very cheap before Christmas & want to refill them now with cheap handwash - can anyone help with how I can do this? I can't twist or lever off the plastic cap without looking like I'm going to break it.
Thank you

Been watching but if I lever it that much it looks like it's going to break and I don't have a small funnel or big syringe!
  • I guess you have to weigh up the cost of buying a small funnel against the refills in that case. I'd imagine they can be purchased very cheaply from Wilkinsons or Dunelm for example.

Wow someone did buy one of these pointless products! Why are you worried about touching a "germ ridden" hand pump when you're about to wash your Hands with something that kills 99.9% of all germs. Weird!

I've got one in the kitchen and the bathroom, I didn't buy it for it's germ busting qualities (good hand-washing with ordinary soap is just as effective) but my OH only has use of one hand and they're great for him. He can't use a bar of soap very well or an ordinary soap pump with one hand but he can manage to just stick his hand under the Dettol automatic pump. ;) I only paid about £2 for mine, Tesco had them on offer and I used a £3 money-off voucher.

Skint_Catt, I refill mine with cheap value hand wash. I couldn't get the lid off without breaking it so I used a knife to make a smallish hole in the bottom of the bottle then I stick the nozzle of the value handwash in the hole and pump away to fill it. :D I'm sure there's probably an easier way and it does mean you've got the hole on show (as the Dettol bottle goes in upside down) but it works for me.

Edit: mine is like this but I don't have a 2nd smaller hole and I don't cover the hole with tape:

Edit again: you can also refill it using a ketchup squeezy bottle (the type you see in cafes). I've seen those bottle in Poundland:

Skint Catt politely asked for some help. Is this answer really within the whole friendly ethos of OS? :(

My thoughts exactly - I wonder if bec came back and saw Anguk's post about it being really useful for her hubby as he only has one hand - I should imagine bec would be quite embarrassed at her comment if she had.

There's no need for unpleasant remarks on the OS board. There are plenty of places on MSE where that is the norm. Thankfully here it is a rarity.

I knew it would open a can of worms - sorry :o

I bought one for £2 like anguk just so I have one less job to do now I have a small baby - constantly cleaning the soap pump/soap/sink in the utility room when my husband gets car oil everywhere - how do you press a soap pump dispenser with oil covered hands without getting it dirty?

Why do people have such an issue on what you spend your money on?

Anyway, hubby managed to lever it off in the end though the plastic looks a bit more fragile now. Think I will get him to drill a hole for future refills, thanks everyone.

With all due respect. How doe's someone with one hand wash it?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Why not go to the bathroom and have a go? Then imagine how much easier it would be if your soap dispenser was automatic.
