re the ice cream there was a diabetic one on the market a while back, think was franks?? quite lowcarb. but for VERY lowcarb get some frozen berries, add double cream and blend in a high power blender eg bamix, magic bullet. u can make just a little then in minutes

pizza... 1 cup grated courgette, squeeze the moisture out
1 cup mozzarella (i use cheddar)
    1 egg, some herbs, garlice
press flat on a tray or pizza stone and bake 15mins, i find it better to flip it and cook for another 10. then just add pizza toppings, eg tom sauce, cheddar, mushrooms etc, whatever u want really. bake another 10-15mins. all the pizza, fewer the carbs!!! can also do the same but replace the courgette with cauli. oh and same recipe just press onto a sheet and cook slow and low in the oven, cut into triangles and put back in oven til they dry out. voila doritos!!!

can also make a pizza base with 2 eggs, cream cheese, herbs and garlic, whisk and put in a ovenproof dish, cook til set. then add toppings as above and bake
When you know better you do better

Sainsburys have a fair bit of Basics frozen meat -
    chicken portions £3.99/2.5kg,
    white fish £2/520g,
beef mince £5.99/1.5kg (the beef and pork mince is cheaper but I find it too fatty),
"cooking bacon" (I'll see what that is when it arrives) £2/1kg.

"Ethnic" local stores are normally good for goat and mutton, as well as big bags of coconut flour (if you use that a lot), spices etc, random veg.

I'm trying to think what else would be useful

Cooking bacon - ASDA version is the offcuts from bacon slicing.

You may get really big gammon steak size peices right down to small bits. Possibley some lardons as well.
Essentially its bacon cuts you can not put in your 6 pack rasher on the retailers shelves.

Its generally not a suitable neatly slices for your bacon sandwich.
    It taste fine.

I've done Spar, Budgens, Co-op, Poundland, One Stop, Costcutter.. Nisa, Mace and Poundstretcher bargains aren't online. Still some shops to do, so if anyone wants to put some bargains up (even just a section eg tinned fish or fruit & veg or poultry) that would be great.

    xx
  • Thanks for these Edwardia. Very helpful! I do disagree on one point though, there is carbs in red wine (unfortunately!) a standard glass is about 3 carbs, one of my normal glasses is about 5 ;-) ... Or should I call them, 'carbohydrate equivalents' it's quite hard to pin down as yes, the sugar has turned to alcohol and therefore doesn't register as a carb per se but there are residual minerals in red wine that do contribute to your overall daily carbs. If you only ever have a glass or two a couple of times a week, this wouldn't even register as an issue, but If you're trying to lose weight / control your blood sugar it's worth paying close attention to what and how much you drink. It's not a 'green light' I'm afraid.

Thanks for the depressing news cherrypies ! Seriously though, that is helpful because the table I have says 0g/100g. Luckily I don't have wine very often because I don't feel like drinking the nasty cheap reds in the titchy bottles. I couldn't possibly drink more than a couple of glasses of wine at a time, because the liver switches to eradicating alcohol, switches off glycogen and because I take BG lowering drugs it sends me too low.
