Should I leave negative feedback to a non payer

You would be surprised , many sellers worry about upsetting buyers and automatically go for a mutual.

Trouble is when forcing them to pay that the item almost always 'gets lost in the post/doesn't arrive'.

If sellers allow themselves to become too afraid of buyers that it starts to cost them money then distance selling is not for them. I always do a full NPB and would not inconvenience other sellers by allowing these time wasters to keep on wasting time

You have though perfectly demonstrated the answer to why these buyers get away with it- because sellers let them.

I have no guilt about having a whine about non paying bidders on my auctions, I have an NPB open at the moment on a buyer with over 200 feedback. I assume it doesn't bother some sellers as much then if they can afford to keep letting them do it.

@Soo, last post on previous page (forgot to tick quote button AAAARGH!) This is one of the rare occasions we disagree. Arguably under law some buyers have a legal right to cancel a transaction, and if someone contacts me saying they don't want something, then it's foolish to make them take it - they are probably the most rather than the least amenable to agreeing to cancel.

However, I would like therefore to see cancellations accessible from the buyer's side, like on Amazon; that would mean that the buyer can exercise their legal right without too much hassle or worry to the seller and ensure the people who make mistakes (as we all do) can put them right properly. Then the seller could use NPB to chase up the people who genuinely don't make contact and are really just timewasters.

It works well on Amazon because of the listing format, and you have a very small window to do the cancellation, but OTOH at least some provision is made. Not everyone who makes a mistake is TSFE.

On Amazon every time the seller cancels a sale they get a strike on their seller metrics- I had 2 in three months at one point and it was enough to give me an amber warning for my account.

I still still nothing that suggests a seller cannot recover losses through a third party if a buyer cancels? Next there will be people suggesting we can't even block a buyer who fails to pay in case we upset them. I run a business, if people change their mind that's fine, but I will not lose money over them.
