I use Ameirsoft DVD to iPad. Paid for but simple no fuss. It breaks the latest copy protection then rips and converts all in one complete package.0

DVD-FAB-HD-Decrypter will assist with most ripping to hard drive of 'most' retail DVD's followed by DVD Shrink 3.2 (if you can find it) to stick the finished article back onto a single layer DVD.
Please consider that from what I remember, it is not illegal to copy a disc, but it IS illegal to circumvent copy protection.
