Barclays keep rejecting me..

    Hi all,

Barclays seem to have an issue with me and they won't tell me what it is.
I applied for a premier banking account and they have turned me down, this is rather strange as I have never missed a payment on anything, ever, my net debt is less than 1/3 my salary and have no issues getting credit whenever I have needed it.

I complained about this thinking they had made a mistake and all I got was a standard rejection letter, is there any way I can demand they tell me what it is that concerns them?

This isnt the first time this bank have !!!!!!ed me about, 18 months ago I applied for a barclaycard and they sent me one out with £8500 limit but when I called to activate it I was told to cut it up and that the contract was null and void with an equal lack of explaination.

Hope someone can help me or explain their perplexing decision making process?

Don't take rejections personally ! It happens to all of us at some point unfortunately.

You probably didn't fit the criteria that they are looking for. Banks don't have to disclose why they declined you, As internal scoring is kept secret !

OP, believe me you have had a very lucky escape being turned down for Barclays Premier Account.

As PWUK said it is not worth the fee, or even if you have the £50k minimum for free banking it still costs you with poor interest rates.

I opened up the Premier account with GBP, USD current accounts and a GBP saving account. I also tried to open a Barclays Stockbroker account and a spread betting/CFD account rather than pay the sky high fees (both annual and initial) that are charged when investing through the relationship manager.

Every possible obstacle was placed in my way even though all stockbroker account opening dept is in the same damn building, they lost certified copies of my passport and original bills/bank statements, then sent the replacement ones back to my old address not my new one which I had given them. Over £35 in courier fees as I live abroad wasted too.... but to see their excuse for a private banking service, I think I actually got off lightly and could not be bothered to chase them up after the first 6 weeks. They are total jackasses, forget them and save yourself the hassle and expense.
