Go to row 247 on that page. Right-click on 'Set IE to Check for Default Browser', then click Save Link As.. (or similar). Save it in My Documents, or Desktop. Locate the checkassoc.reg file just saved and double-click it to run it, and answer Yes to the registry prompt. Fire up IE and it should ask if you want to make it the default browser.

Thanks, that worked, and IE is now my default browser.

However the links in the emails still don't work. I can of course copy and paste as southernscouser has advised, but... oh well.

No they are totally dead. I have about 4 or 5 emails per day from the office, containing links to online reports. I just click on them the page opens and off I go. But I seem to have done something to the settings or... Oh I don't know what because as I said above I'm not very savvy, so I have no idea. I have to copy and paste them. Never mind.

    -Have you rebooted computer ??

-Did the problem start after doing anything particular ??

-Could you have accidentally changed any settings ??

-What email program are you using ??

To get hyperlinks links to work from OE.

Open Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Programs Tab, Reset Web Settings, and untick reset homepage then click OK.

    This should work

Your advice was useful, as I said in my reply post. With your help IE is now my default browser again, which is one of the things I wanted. Thanks again. :)

The email links are not working but I can get round that.
