I need to enter some work reports online, and the links are sent to me via email by my office.

I never had problems but now suddenly, when I click on the blue link in the email, nothing happens. I've never had problems before, and have looked in tools etc but I cannot see what I have to do.

Help!!!

Thanks

  • I think holding CTRL and clicking the link works Q!

Other than that it's a copy and paste job!

Thanks SS - it's not working but I just noticed the following.

I had Opera as default browser and the email links DO open on Opera, but after a couple of pages of my reports it says he cannot load whatever (I think it;s a problem with the report software from the office).

Anyway, none of this happened when IE was my default browser. How do I get IE back as my default browser? It used to ask me each time on start-up but not anymore.

OK, if you have IE7 - go to Tools > Options > Programs tab.

There you will see a section about whether IE is the default browser - click it and the tick box too, and you should then have IE7 as your new browser. I presume you've got IE7?

Hope this helps you and your links! :)
    That, is an excellent question...

    No, I still have IE6

I tried it all the same and IE6 does have that option. I ticked the box to tell it to check whether it is the default browser. I closed both browsers and called up IE but it's not asking me anything.

There should still be a tab called programs... if not, visit the microsoft website and download the IE7 update ;)

I had problems with IE7 and at the moment I don't want it. All I need really in a nutshell is how to tell my computer that I want my email links to open in IE and not in Opera. I assume I need IE as default?

Thanks for the link. However I'm not very computer savvy and have no idea what I have to click on.

    Thanks anyway. :)

  • Go to row 247 on that page. Right-click on 'Set IE to Check for Default Browser', then click Save Link As.. (or similar). Save it in My Documents, or Desktop. Locate the checkassoc.reg file just saved and double-click it to run it, and answer Yes to the registry prompt. Fire up IE and it should ask if you want to make it the default browser.
