That's great, lots for me to mull over.

It's true, I don't need a smartphone/iphone - it's a nice to have. I've had a look at what Vodafone has on offer and the iphone is of course quite expensive and beyond what I need. My own phone is on it's wayn out so will look at what else I can have that I can put music on. I use my ipod for running and cycling so having something I can put some music on and a headset so I can take calls is all I really need. I'm sure there'll be a cheaper option than the iphone. Also I didn't realise how much data it went through. I'd end up leaving something switched on so I'm probably best off without it.

    Thanks for all the answers.

i use a Sonny Ericsson W995 Walkman its getting old now by today's standard about 2yrs old but really is a great phone one of the best Ericsson phones Great music player, 8mg camera WiFi, Gps its got the lot also good battery life and memory
Have a look at the review i got mine off eBay for about £50 SH but you can get new on there if you look about.
I also have an iPhone but the Ericsson is better sound on it.

    1) you do not have to have the "internet" option

    2) in iphone options you can disable 3G and also disable Cellular Data (which restricts all data to Wi-Fi only , including email , web browsing and push notifications)

I disabled all 3g and cellular data in the iphone I was using (not iphone4 so guess iphone 3??) which was fine but everytime you used the phone, it would pop up that it was switched off and prompted you to go to the settings menu to switch back on which got annoying. I've gone back to using my nokia. I'm not fussed about having access to facebook or e-mail or Internet, useful but I don't need it. All I want is a decent camera, radio and music player and the ability of course to text and call as required. Its frustrating that they make phones so damn complicated (more likely to go wrong) and so expensive.
  • I have an iPhone 3GS on PAYG which I don't really use as a smartphone.

I phone, text, occasionally use the iPod and use the camera a lot.

Look at giffgaff.com for PAYG value; they have goodybags that last for a month and can give you unlimited internet if you need it.

If your husband buys it on O2 then you won't need to get it unlocked as giffgaff uses O2. Be aware some iPhone providers won't unlock their phone for months on a contract.

I love my iPhone, it's so easy to use and does it so well.
  • Im pretty sure all iPhone contracts had unlimited internet usage a few years back?
