Hi I'm new to the forum and am have been curious to the whole ppi reclaiming that's been going on. I have figured that from all the loans/cards I must have at some point taken it without knowing.

I have looked through some old paper work and found a statement which was from Focus DIY (clydesdale financial services) which I bought £500 of stuff and was paying it off monthly and paying ppi on it which I never knew about for 6 months when I paid the full balance.

I know 100% I was mis-sold it but does this mean I am due any amount worth claiming for? I also made 1 late payment to the account which they charged me 22.50 for the "arrears letter charge"

Any advice appreciated

Regards

Martyn

if you don't want £45.90 plus statutory interest then that's up to you. You'll probably get around £80.00 depending how long ago it was.

    Thanks for that Tifo :)

OK well £40-£80 isn't to be sniffed at so will see if I can get it.

Who is best to contact? clydesdale financial services as that's who the finance was with or focus who aren't around any more ?

    Cheers

  • OK so I'm filling in the questionnaire and looking for the address and realised that Clydesdale are no more and is now Barclay's. Do I just send it to:

    Barclays PPI Dept
    Leicester
    LE87 2BB

    or somewhere else?

You send it to Barclays making it clear that it is a previous company that you are making a complaint about. You give them your complaint reasons and any evidence you have to support your complaint.

  • OK thanks for clearing that up I will type a letter up to go with the questionnaire and send it off tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

You need to send to Barclays Partner Finance at:

    Barclays Partner Finance
    PO Box 2501
    Cardiff
    CF23 0FP

After a lot of going backwards and forward I eventually got my PPS (their PPI) returned as it had never been agreed to, nor was it on any forms and also my £22.50 charges - although that went through the FOS

Thanks for that I have just put it in the envelope now, will change it before I send it :)
  • OK so I've had a response and it reads:
    Barclays wrote:
I note from our records that the ppi was actually sold by Focus. Unfortunately as this is the case,Barclays partner finance does not have access to the records of the sale between you and focus. I am therefore unable to investigate the sale of insurance.

Further more,I understand that Focus is no longer trading so I have been unable to pass the complaint to them. I would normally suggest that you pursue your complaint through the offices of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, However we have been informed that they are unable to help customers who took out a loan before 2005.

We have asked our legal department to look into this issue where they are unable to help customers like yourself.

We will contact you as soon as we have clarification from our legal team in relation to such claims regarding the alleged miss-selling of ppi by retailer who are no longer trading.

I hope this information is satisfactory however should you require any further assistance please contact me on 0844 *** ****

They have supplied me with a copy of the original finance agreement though? Don't really know what to make of it. The sale date is shown as 13th feb 2004 but it was by now pay 12months later. So I paid ppi between feb2005>dec2005.

What do you think to that?

Yes. They would have that. However, as they didnt sell it to you they are not liable.

Its the date you sign that matters. Not the commencement date.
