Blackberry question

I am flying to Italy tomorrow morning. How do I turn off data, so that I do not incur silly charges, but still have the phone available? Ideally I would like to still have wifi on for email, but not incur data charges through my network.
Your help and assistance is, as always, greatly appreciated.0 -
To turn the data off go to Options > Network and Connections > Mobile Network then you should see Data Services, select off.
Alternatively depending which network you're with ask them about Blackberry services abroad. I did this when I went to Norway didn't turn off Data Services and my monthly bill was approximately £70 (this was 2009). Blackberry compress their data so they are not as data hungry as some mobiles.0 -
I know how to change the password on the BB, but how do I remove the password altogether?0

the software is built to be secure (where it is not ?)
the generic way to send and receive stuff is here http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05409&sliceId=2&docTypeID=DT_SUPPORTISSUE_1_1&dialogID=108151650&stateId=0%200%20108153609
