Seeds of Italy - seed quantities are very generous, if you will use them all the price seems fair, and my experience of their rocket seed was that it was excellent quality, very reliable and plentiful.

Forgot to mention Seeds of Italy - they have some really unusual varieties. Growing veg is not just about saving money, it's about getting varieties to cook with that you can't buy at your local supermarket. I am trying Cima di Rapa from Seeds of Italy this year - it's a sprouting turnip top that is supposed to taste a bit like slightly spicy purple spouting broccoli.
  • Been into Aldi today and they are selling seeds at 29p packet - veg and flowers.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

this year the wilko's own range seems to be more limited than in previous years or is it just me ?

    My thoughts exactly
  • Ask your Family/Friends/Colleagues to save £sd by not buying you any Cards/other gifts but suggest they collaborate re your 'wish list' of seeds?

Last year my local garden centre had a clearance sale of seeds, all seeds T&M , Dobbies , etc were 25p per pack. Some of these were originally £2.95. I bought loads , hopefully they will germinate this year!
  • Have you looked at ebay for the seeds I was looking last night and they had some great bargains. 20 packets of Suttons Seeds for £2.00 and some great
    F1 varieties.

It should be remembered that all seeds sold commercially have to comply with E.U. germination rules, which means ignoring the differences between F1 , F2 and open set seeds (I normal old fashioned ones) it will not make a flying pigs worth of difference if you pay 50p or £5.

Henry Doubleday Research Institute is a good place to join for cheap and unusual old vegetable varities.

For unusual flowers and others Chilterns is really good.
