greasypalm often have some good insurance cashback offers on their site.. I found barclays to be the cheapest for us.. it was £40 cheaper than what we had been paying! plus £67.50 cashback or something like that.

Bit naff re tax credits.. ours have been reduced a fair bit this year as well.. thankfully the DLA we get for DS2 has been increased so it hasn't made too much difference!

Is LO feeling better today?? Nothing worse than sicky children!!

hi pigpen , thanks LO was better yesterday although we have starved her and no dairy at all!! thanks for info on greasypalm will investigate that tomorrow. on quidco, i can get it cheaper then my current policy by £50 and £120 cashback - so must sort that tomorrow - also my existing policy isn't due to end yet but will get a part refund if cancel now!!

your signature is looking good pigpen!!

also have only £40 left of food budget  but tonight i went to sainsburys and they were reducing stuff. I got £39 worth of meat and fish (nice stuff too including lots taste the difference or organic) for a tenner - so just using os to do a meal plan using that and trying to use what i have in cupboard and fridge to go with it - so think will come in on budget for food this week after all :T

today i did go to ikea and got dd2 chest of drawers, nothing in paper locally or freecycle, but am going to look at a pine bed frame that is £15 and have another to ring about too so that will help.

am feeling positive again now even though money obviously needs to be found to meet monthly committments - i can cut back to do this :D

    Hi Scaredy_Cat :hello:

Thanks for your PM - just thought I'd drop by ;) I will e-mail you my daily routine tomorrow for making free money on the cashback sites, hopefully it will make sense when you see it! i checked my balances today and I have over £92 now and that's since the end of January so every click helps.

Let me know what you think when you get it and I can walk you through it, although once you have done it for a few days it will make sense :T

You can also download my spreadsheet in my sig, may help with the budgeting?

  • well its been a very long time since i last visited my diary! It has been up and down but hopefully on the up again now. I seem to go between being very committed and enthusiastic and feeling low about the debt and wondering if i am actually making any difference at all.

I have cleared an extra 10 months off my debt (snowballing) since january and have reduced my debt from £18874 to £14090.65 - thank goodness for the snowball calc to really make you realise what you are reducing by.

I am still not on track with my spreadsheet but am going to tackle that this week - i need another attack on the monthly outgoings and spend to reduce further.

I have also got £566 in savings from a challenge i did - and am just about to start another - i want to save it to pay off a loan as i can't make overpayments which is a pain. But it is over £100 a month so would be great to get rid of. I am also on a target to get my debt below 10k by Christmas which is a bit of a dream but will try hard. target this weekend is shift credit card and get sorted with matched betting. I will do card and any betting stuff i can through quidco - i have just had my first payout from them and it was over £125 - how great is that!

so i am in for the long haul despite having some low points - i REFUSE to let it get the better of me for long, I will be in control of my money and not let it control me. I did put back a top in the monsoon sale today - even though it was very lovely and half price and actually i do need some clothes - but i have been managing on what i have for over a month now and i have had 2 new tops for weddings in the last 2 months so that will have to do.

well - positive thinking and action! I will make sure i am on here every day too doing the different daily spend things and small df things

    Yeah!! You go girl!!!

You are doing fabulously and really making inroads to clearing that debt!!!!!

You will easily meet your target of <£10k by christmas (I'm aiming for something similar.. but will have to take into account buying presents for the chidren.. budget reduced to £100 per child this year again.. it was £150.. but with 8 of them that's a huge amount!)

I daren't do any of that betting stuff so you are doing far better than me.. I just stick to ebay lol.. fling fling fling!!

I'm still 'decluttering' too which is remarkably therapeutic and fantastic for the motivation and incentive.

You are allowed a few small treats.. keep your eye on that top in monsoon they may reduce it further yet!! ;)

  • Hi, thanks pigpen and Pania - i think it is up and down but its more cross with myself for slipping back into some old habits and wanting to ignore my debts - but updating my snowball really motivated me again. Wow pigpen christmas sounds expensive! I actually do ok for christmas as i save throughout the year - 12months a year! Also i have been buying stuff already - in the sales and i already have finished buying for some people already! right off to do some paperwork sorting! in preparation for budget reduction tonight!
