When I switched on the computer I got the following message from BT Yahoo Internet,
WARNING:
Application blocked making silent call -
C:\WINDOWS|system32\svhost.exe
I have broadband but had been on dial up with BT Yahoo Internet and it is still on the computer. What does this warning mean?

I was hoping I wouldn't get that response! I am logging of in about 10 minutes and then I will not be online again until Friday, will it be alright if I leave fixing it till then? Can I still check my bank online?0 -
svhost.exe is a virus. Googling came up with the W32.Mydoom.I@mm worm.
Are you sure it wasn't SVCHOST?
Internet Explorer - Tools / Connections remove any dialup connections and check the box "never dial a connection".
Update your virus patterns and run a check. Also check for spyware.0 -
Can I still check my bank online?
I would recommend that you do not access anything online until you've run a full check. It may be something that collects your data, so by doing your banking online you could find an empty account the day after. Or worse, up to your eyeballs in spirralling debt.
It's your call though.0 -

Going to reboot to see if it brings it up again as I am almost certain it was what I typed.0 -

It didn't appear when I rebooted.
Have I got a virus or not then? 0 -
I have just rebooted again and it didn't show anything this time either.

When I go into C:\WINDOWS|system32, I can see svchost.exe but I cannot see the other one. Is any of this making sense? Do I have a virus?
