how did you manage that, I thought Sky+ was disabled if you cancelled your sub?0 -

But the prices will still go up, as they paid a lot more to secure the other premiership games. Thanks to the EU competition commission, they split the games into 6 lots and auctioned them off individually. So the others involved upped the price Sky had to pay, so Sky's subscribers end up paying for that rather than Sky investors. The EU said it did it to ensure healthy competition for the benefit of consumers, yet Sky subscribers will have to pay extra to watch those games won by a pay-per-view channel. The only ones it might benefit are people with freeview who don't already or want Sky. Either way, everyone pays more.
I heard the premiership clubs expect a 30% increase in TV rights income from next season because of it. No wonder so many clubs are being bought out.
It's just like the directory enquires situation. Opened up to create competition supposedly to benefit consumers, yet now we have confusing multiple numbers that charge, while BT 192 used to be free for the most part.0 -

I have the same thing - cancelled all packages but 2 and am paying £15 per month and still have sky plus facility, I think its just a glitch in their system.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0 -
I've also cancelled sky packages. Am however, keeping sky box with recording facilities for £10 per month. Sould i be able to get any freeview channels with this. If so, do you know what they are?Jan Grocery challenge
Budget £350 - Spent £64.45 to date0 -
I reckon they're going to have to do something soon!
I for one, am about to leave (I now have a Home Thearte PC which actually offers more fuctionality than Sky+)....you can buy a hard disk recorder that does pretty much the same for cack all nowadays.
They had a unique product 4-5 years ago & could get away with the charge...but they're gonna haeomorrage revenue with customers leaving to seek alternative options if they don't drop the charge very soon.0 -
They do need to move, as getting people back oce they have a Freeview PVR will be virtually impossible.
I'm seriously considering canning it in favour of a Freeview + Hard disk recorder solution.0 -
I have a Freeview PVR - the excellent Humax 9200T - but I would consider getting a sky+ box too if they drop the charge.
I think this current £26 deal for tv, phone & broadband is pretty good but with sky+ included too it would be clincher for me. I pay £25 per month for unlimited broadband alone with Virgin at the moment so wouldn't mind the extra channels, sky+ and the opportunity to get Setanta sports on top if I want it (don't think you can get it through freeview?).
Unfortunately there is no cable service my way so Sky is the only option.0 -

Possible Top UP TV only has the main Satanta Sports for football and golf being only £10.99/month. Since Sky/NTL/Telewest subscribers pay £15/month (£10/month for first 3 months) for all 9 Satanta channels. Which includes rugby, horse rasing, NASN etc.
Edit: Just noticed they have discontinued the Starter Pack (viewing card for freeview boxes) as a seperate product, now want you to pay £209.99 for their Top Up Anytime Box (freeview PVR) + Starter Pack.0 -
I would hold on for a while into signing up for anything. It looks like the price war may have started between Sky and Virgin Media. It will be interesting to see how Sky respond to this.
