Hi all. Please will an expert advise.
I sold an item to a buyer in The States with 0 feedback. She has only just joined ebay. She hasn't paid or answered any of the emails I have sent. Should I cancel the transaction (which I am happy to do) or should I open an unpaid item dispute?
I can't get her agreement to cancel so can I actually go ahead and do so?
I want to give her the benefit of the doubt as maybe she bought it in error and I don't want to ruin her ebay reputation before it is even started but it would be nice if she could at least answer me.
If I cancel do I get my final value fees back?
Thanks :A

as she hasn't bothered to contact you i would open an unpaid item dispute, giving her a further 3 days to pay, if that is still ignored you will get your fees back0

It's 4 days after NPB dispute is opened.
Open the dispute OP and then close it 4 days later. Block the bidder and relist.0

You can't just cancel the sale and get your fees back, you need to either do a mutual or do a full NPB.
If you do a mutual it either needs the buyer to agree or it times out in your favour after 7 days, however if buyer declines then the sale stands but you no longer have any way of forcing payment.
An NPB can be started on day 4 and closed 4 days later.
Personally I would do a full NPB.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for taking the time to advise me. It's good to know there are experts on hand.
I've contacted her again saying if I don't hear from her by the morning I will do a NPB.
 Thanks again. :A0

Thats the problem, If you cancel and they refuse you end up losing the fees and they still get a clean slate to repeat that.
2 or 3 NPB strikes and they cannot bid on a lot of auctions.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Seems im not the only one, newly registered buyer (23rd Jan) bids and buys my item, sent invoice, sent reminder, no reply whatsoever, so opened NPB, although i have a feeling this is somebody acting maliciously.Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years0

I've got a 0 feedback US buyer as well , 4 days this evening so I'll be opening an NPB before I go to bed.
I have been out all day and came home to a series of frantic emails from a UK buyer (21 feedback) desperately asking me to drop my blocks as she really really wanted my item. As the day went on the emails got more frantic, she even admits she has one (or it might be 2 she doesn't remember) non paying strikes as she over spent a bit just before Christmas and couldn't pay for her stuff.
I thank each and every one of those sellers who gave her a strike and stoped her bidding and potentially wasting my time as well.

gents, similar query, i sold an item on monday night - no payment or response from buyer whatsoever
sent invoice just after auction ended & sent follow up message 24hrs later to check if any issues with buyer
the buyer has 100+ transactions & 100% feedback so seem to have a good record
i would like to complete the sale & happy to give them benefit of the doubt - perhaps until the end of the weekend to pay or communicate
but question for the experienced how long would you wait before opening an NPB?0

Personally - I think people need to know that bidding and not paying is not really acceptable, so I would do it asap, i.e. within 4-5 days of the auction end. Though if they contact you and ask for more time to pay or something, then I'd play it by ear.0
