Would this do the job? http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/hardware/ironmongery/fire_safety/-specificproducttype-smoke_alarms/FireAngel-Wi-Safe-Smoke-Alarm-System-9846771 It is pricey, but can also be linked with more, providing a fully linked system through the house. Base unit can sit by the bed.

Just put an ordinary smoke alarm on the table then. Since the rest of the house is already protected, it doesn't matter if it works or not.

Weird!!. Presumably, as it's just a psychological prop, then it doesn't actually have to work. Its mere presence being enough to allay the fears of the afflicted person.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Your 'weird' proclamation is slightly offensive tbh. I asked about smoke alarms, I didn't ask for judgement or opinions about this person. I'm sure we all have our own little foibles that others don't have.

@ ic, thank you for the link. I will give that idea some serious consideration.

  • OP - just get an ordinary smoke alarm and place that on the bedside table. As it's only there for 'cosmetic' reasons, and a ceiling mounted one is already in place, surely this will suffice??

  • Just a thought but do they not make smoke alarms for people that are deaf. I am not sure if I have dreamt this but are they not similar to an alarm clock where there is a vibrating thing that goes under the pillow? Can an existing alarm be adapted or replaced?
