How to connect V+ box to tv and dvd in sequence?

I have a Sony Trinitron tv (KV-32FQ75B) and a Virgin Media cable feed (for tv, broadband and phone). I have a V+ STB (Samsung). Also I bought a Panasonic VHS-DVD player/recorder (DMR EX99V) at Christmas.

At present I have the Virgin cable coming into the V+ STB which is connected via a SCART into the tv on AV1. The Panasonic box is separately connected via a SCART into the tv on AV2.

I have been having problems with the tv suddenly switching from AV1 to AV2 mid programme. So I got Virgin out who have checked out all the kit and all the leads and said it is all working fine and they have no idea what is causing it.

The Virgin tech did suggest as an alternative that I cabled it as follows: Virgin cable into V+ STB, STB into Panasonic and Panasonic into TV AV1. That way I would avoid using the AV2 altogether on the TV - as I would be watching it through the Panasonic box.

Anyone done this? I can't find anything about it in the Panasonic user guide.

No reason why it shouldn't work.

It was certainly the way I had it set up although I used a Sky box instead of a Virgin box.

Out of interest when this switching happens, is the DVD player/recording switching on to recording something?

This is actually a better configuration as you are able to maintain a full RGB path for both the V+ box and the Panasonic DVD. By turning off the Panny you are able to view the V+ in "Scart Through" effectively bypassing the circuitry of the Panny.

That's the way I do it & currently have my kit 'daisy chained' thru to the TV,although with the HDMI,that connection is virtually redundent now in my home, only if I want to watch a DVD or Video..
