My experience of cloth would say that they are far too big and bulky for such a little baby

I've never had a teeny one, as my smallest was 7lb 10, but you usually use muslins for new borns rather than full size nappies with a newborn outer wrap and they fold up very small and aren't bulky at all. I wouldnt have thought it was worth the expense of buying shaped nappies for this size as you would need loads even if washing every day, and they wouldn't last very long. The advantage of muslins is they are dirt cheap, wash and dry very quickly and be used for other things as the baby gets older so long as they have been washed in a hot wash and are spotless.0

Thanks very much for the advice. I will have a look out for some of the Pampers Micro nappies. I had no idea they existed. I complained to Pampers about their nappies leaking, and they sent me £12 worth of vouchers, so it pays to complain!0

I wont comment on prem babyies as I have never had a small baby (all mine were over 8lbs) BUT my Daughters little boy is now 6 weeks and she is having the same problems as you report OP. The little man is going through 4-5 outfits per day due to his nappy leaking at the back. Somethimes he only has the nappy on for a matter or minutes before he is soaked.
It is very frustrating having to change him so many times when even the front of the nappy isnt wet!
My Daughter spoke to her health visitor about this problem and she told us that if the babies foreskin is slightly too tight the pee tends to escape up the back of the nappy , hence the wet clothing.
We have tried both pampers and huggies nappies and yet the problem persists.
Baby is now weighing in at 8lbs 10 so we dont think the nappies we are using are the wrong size.0 -
We had the pee up the back problem with Huggies. Despite being well within the weight range, we tried the next size up. We still got leaks, but not as many. Nature Babycare ones didn't leak, Pampers leaked poo! :eek:0
