Orange branded handsets

Is there a difference between the different network branded handsets. I know O2 handsets are unlocked and unrestricted in terms of the usability of phone features.

So Orange have features which only their network will support of can full functionality still be obtained using another sim in a orange branded hanset, in particular the P990i

orange and sony ericsson = awful branding

they customize the icons, put in sidebars on the standby screen (w810i, k800i etc), lock them to orange, remove features (eg. they removed the blogging feature in the k800i) and make them look a mess.

I've had hands sets from OSPS as part of new contract deals, all unlocked and unbranded.

OSPS part of CPW sent you a normal phone unlocked and unbranded and unlocked with a contract SIM.

To quote a guy from Nokia, “We spend up to 10 man years developing the op system and firmware and the network (Or****) take a month to load and test their ‘branding’ software. It’s hardly surprising it causes issues…”
