I'm 50, size 16-18 and do find I have to shop around these days for clothes. I dress smartly for work but otherwise I'm a jeans girl mostly. Don't like Next, New Look, Monsoon, can't bear Per Una but M&S limited collection have lovely clothes if you search through the rails. Primark's no good for me, the clothes never quite fit me properly.
- M & Co are worth a look, they can be a bit overpriced though so look out for offers.
- Not a great fan of supermarkets apart from ASDA where I nearly always find something, I bought about 10 items in there last week! Some really nice dresses at the moment too.
- Sometimes I find things in Debenhams-their shoes are affordable and comfortable. Nice clothes for work and Red Herring have a good range of casual clothes.
- I visit Matalan quite often, their prices are good and some of their clothes are well made (not all!)
- Dorothy Perkins-their jeans fit me well and they have nice dresses to wear over leggings or trousers.

Without change there would be no butterflies.
If its important to you, you'll find a way - if not, you'll find an excuse ! ~ Easy to say when you take money out of the equation!

Hi I am 45 and love La Redoute. You get lots of different mini shops in the catalogue with different styles/colours. Really worth a try. They also do a bit of organic stuff as well. Always order codes kicking about too, would recommend."If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.":DMiss Mona, The Best Little *****house in Texas0

I must admit, I am a big fan of Ebay especially for the branded items. I use it to search for particular items I want to buy, e.g. 'wrap dress size 14', and often narrow the search to individual brands like Next etc. There are so many clothes listed on there that there are loads to choose from, and they are often not necessarily just this seasons fashions - in fact it's a good place to pick up bargains from the last couple of years that the seller has just had in the wardrobe for ages.
I avoid any sellers of 'seconds' though, also usually only look in the UK and among private sellers. Check feedback for each seller too, before bidding.
I also tend to ask for detailed measurements of clothes if I am not sure whether they will fit - this is very useful, and something that you can't do when ordering from a catalogue.
I've picked up some cracking bargains that way - and any that I don't really like I just re-list on Ebay.0 -
47 yr old, plus size, I shop in...
M&Co (sale time only)
New Look
Primark (accessories only mostly as clothing often doesn't come in my size)
Tesco
George/Asda
Matalan
Yours (online)
Simplybe/Joe Browns (online)
Ebay
Oh and I have bought things from LaRedoute and Next online before now but often forget to look on there
Hardly ever see anything I like in Evans, it's often frumpy, or BHS/M&S and I'd never be seen dead in Bon Marche!!!Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

I am also a plus size (at the moment) and shop in Sainsbury's and Asda for some items, although i find Asda can be hit and miss size wise, but mostly from Very or K & Co, especially in the sales. I love M&S, mostly for undies but I do think they have the odd item that is lovely. I am 39.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs
30lb lost of 30lb by June 2012 :j:j:j (80lb overall goal)0 -
Ive suddenly discovered my style. Dresses! I wore them all the time in my teens and twenties but moved on to seperates into my 30s and 40s and ive suddenly discovered them again. Unless they are the same dark colour, seperates do nothing for my figure (unless i wear a long, coloured jacket to add a bit of interest).
I get my stuff mainly from Debenhams. Wallis clothes fit me perfectly but ive got some stuff from M&S (mainly seperates).
I cant walk in cheap shoes i stick to Clarks now. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Over the years I've come round to a 'less is more' wardrobe and quality over quantity. Boden, Phase Eight, Monsoon, Tesco jeans (their long length is perfect for me) and Primark for base layers.
Whilst I don't tend to buy clothes from M&S (besides leggings & tights), I think they have some lovely things in there every time I go, which was today, buying underwear for my 11 year old! Whilst I don't think of them as being overly fashionable, I certainly wouldn't say they were frumpy. They basically cater to a very wide age spectrum. I'd go there for black trousers, a work skirt etc. I typically like their Autograph, Per Una & Indigo ranges.

I would say Debehnams is a good place or Dorothy Perkins? They arent too expensive during sale0
