Can we get a water meter?

I live in a 2 bed rented flat in a block of flats in London. Water bill is £444 per year (unmetered), approx £37 per month.
I want to know if a meter would be worthwhile and whether we can get one installed if we are renting?
We both have a shower each day, husband spends about 15 mins, me about 5 mins. Kids have a bath every other day. Washing machine is on every other day. Do the washing up a few times a day, so I would say medium user. We are with Thames Water.

If you have a fixed tenancy for a year or been there for over 6 months you can apply for a meter and you will get a year ( or 2 bills ) to see if it is cheaper.
Why not call Thames and talk it through with them and then make an appointment and take it from there.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

If it can't technically be fitted (sometimes an issue with flats), you can then apply for assessed billing instead.
But you must request the meter first and wait for the survey.No free lunch, and no free laptop
