Insurer Offering £1000 cash for £40 extra

  • Initial quote was lower (and I have no idea why the bill came to what it did). I doubt there was a rebate as it wasnt a preferred supplier or part of their network. The point of the comment was to show how easy it is to total loss a low value vehicle if you want to and given the extra £1000 you get from this policy why would you want to have your £500 car repaired when you can get it total lossed for £1500?

    Probably because the insurers would pay it.
    As to the rebate, we've been here before on accounting and underwriting loss.
